Welcome

Posted on 27 April 202313 November 2025 by Jon

This is my retro computing, geocaching and genealogy site. But mainly retro computing. A place for me to document stuff as I go along, primarily so I don’t then forget it and have to learn it all again.

I will concentrate on the Commodore 64, especially text (or interactive fiction) adventure games, coding and business applications, as that is where my interests mainly lie. But I’ll also cover hardware reviews, BBS and the C64 on the internet. I am not averse to shooting the odd space invader either, it’s just not what excites me about old computers.

I currently have 2 original Commodore 64s which work perfectly, along with most peripherals. However, I have recently ordered a Commodore 64 Ultimate, a brand new Commodore in 2025! This, I hope, will become my daily retro driver and I’ll probably wait until that is up and running before restarting my over ambitious A-Z of Commodore Adventues series.

Genealogy and Geocaching will also make appearances now and then, as will other posts and other writing. As I said, this site is mainly for me but if anybody else finds anything interesting or helpful, or if you want to get in touch and discuss anything Commodore, then please do!

This is the first Booker winner I couldn’t get on with. The writing style annoyed me. I found it a hard slog to get through which isn’t what I generally look for in a book. Anyway, not for me, and if we all liked the same books what a bo...
